Interesting site and ideas. However, I think sometimes the advisors get bogged down in the same little box of thinking that CEOs sometimes do--tThat all businesses must grow, must scale up, must have an exit strategy, must take priority of resources away from their core market to "expand" into new markets. These seem to be recited in many fora--not just here--as if it were truth, or foolishness to take a different path.

There is another business model that does not value growth for growth's sake. That values commitment to customers, solid financials, and even, sustainable business. Overgrowing can lead to the implosion or collapse of a business. Focusing outward to new markets while your core consituents feel neglected leads to the loss of those core clients. Or leveraging your cash flow too much or too early so that you spend more time fund raising and servicing debt than you do attending to the business of the company (just look at how our federal government is run). Or maybe a 2 person $5M business is just fine as it is? Maybe there isn't any real need to "grow" for the sake of growing?

I am interested in hearing about other business models in future posts? All the best!
